How To Add Contacts To The Global Address List

Description: When the user opens a new message and clicks on the “to” button, the users personal contacts are not displayed in the list.

How to add Contacts to the main Address Book in Outlook 2003:

1. Run Outlook 2003 and from the Tools menu select E-mail Accounts… to see a window similar to the following:

2. Under the Directory heading select the “Add a new directory or address book” option and click on Next.

3. Select the “Additional Address Books” option then click on Next.

4. Ensure that “Outlook Address Book” is highlighted and then click on Next. A warning message is displayed that says you must exit from Outlook and then restart Outlook in order to start the new Address book. Do this now.

5. After restarting Outlook select Contacts from the Go menu to open your Contacts folder.

6. Right-click on your Contacts folder and select the Properties option. Next click on the “Outlook Address Book” tab and check that the option “Show this folder as an e-mail Address book” is selected.

7. Click on OK to complete the process.

How to show your Contacts in preference to the Global Address List:

1. Run Outlook 2003 and open the Address Book by selecting the Address Book… option from the Tools menu. Then in the window that opens select Options… from the Tools menu.

2. In the “Show this address list first” area select Contacts from the available options. If you only want to check names against your Contacts list you should highlight Global Address List and then click on the Remove button (see below).

3. Click on OK to complete the process.

How to Register Aastra 57i CT to Trixbox (Asterisk)

This post will walk you step by step through configuring an Aastra 57i CT to
register with Trixbox PBX system versions 2.4.0 - 2.6.2.

Step 1 - Plug phone into the LAN.

Step 2 - Take note of DHCP address to appear during boot process.

Step 3 - From a computer on the same network. Type the IP address in the URL field of the internet browser of your choice. You will be prompted for a user ID and password. (default username: admin default password:22222)

Step 4 – Click on the Global Sip link on the left and configure the following fields.

* Screen Name - Type the users first and last name or what your would like the display to read on the phone

* Screen Name2 - Type the extension

* Phone Number - Type the extension

* Caller ID - Type the Name of of the User or what you would like to Display to other phones when calling internally.

* Authentication Name - Type the extension

* Password - Type the password associated with the extension

* Proxy Server - Type the IP address of the Trixbox server.

* Proxy Port- Type 5060

* Registrar Server - Type the IP address of the Trixbox server.

* Registrar Port - Type 5060

Step 5 - Click on the Save Settings button at the bottom of the page.

Step 6 - Click on the Preferences link on the left and configure the following fields.

* Digit Timeout (seconds) = 4

Step 7 - click on the Save Settings button at the bottom of the page.

Step 8 - Click on the Network link on the left and configure the following fields.

* DHCP = uncheck

* IP Address = I recommend making the last 3 of the ip address the ext. for example if the ext is 112. Make the IP address 10.0.1.112. This helps easily keep track the static IP addresses.

* Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0

* Gateway = 10.0.1.1 or IP address or router providing DHCP.

* Primary DNS = 10.0.1.1 or the router or the source providing DNS.

* NTP Time Servers = enable

* Time Server 1 = pool.ntp.org (I use this as my NTP time server and have been a member of the site for a long time. It works very well)

Step 8 - click on the Save Settings button at the bottom of the page.

Step 9 - Click on the Reset link on the left.

Step 10 - Click on the Restart button.

When the phone boots up it will register to the Trixbox server and you will be able to test making an outbound and inbound call.
